Microneedling treatments can be used for wrinkles, acne scars, traumatic scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone and hyper-pigmentation. Microneedling is less abrasive than harsh peels and has been clinically proven to be effective for men and women ranging from skin-types light to very dark. Microneedling treatments at our clinic revolve around a wound-repairing process. Who should not receive microneedling treatments?
At the pur Glow Medical Spa, we use the Salient Micropen EVO. This pen should not be used on patients with the following:

Have active skin cancer in the treatment area(s)

Have open wounds, sores, or irritated skin in the treatment area(s)

Have allergies to stainless steel or anesthetics

Have a hemorrhagic (bleeding) disorder or hemostatic (bleeding) dysfunction

Are pregnant or nursing

Are currency taking drugs/medications with the ingredient isotretinoin (such as Accutane)
What are potential side effects of microneedling?
Some common side effects of microneedling are:

Redness, Itching, peeling, discomfort and tenderness

Other adverse events include patients who may experience reactivation of herpes simplex virus (cold sore), pigment changes that include lighter or darker skin in the treatment area that resolves over time, or no change in their acne scars.
